Kilauea Military Camp (KMC). Located in Hawai‘i Volcanoes National Park
on the Big Island of Hawai‘i, KMC sits amidst spectacular scenery, natural wonders, and cultural treasures including the marvels of the active Kilauea Volcano. Hawai‘i Volcanoes National Park is Hawai‘i’s number one visitor attraction in the state featuring one of the most active volcanos on earth. It has also been designated as a World Heritage Site (one of 20 in the United States), as well as an International Biosphere Reserve.
Transportation
Flights should be booked to Hilo Airport on the Big Island (Hawai‘i). Round trip transportation to and from Hilo airport to the training site can be provided by KMC for $10 pp each way, at three specific time slots per day (To KMC leaving airport at 11am, 1:30pm, and 3:45pm; To airport leaving KMC at 8:30am, 12pm, and 2:30pm). Additional (free/flexible) transport options may be available at the time of the training.
Accommodations
A block of apartments have been reserved at Kilauea Military Camp
at Hawai‘i Volcanoes National Park. Price options range from: $50/night for 4 people in a 3 bedroom apartment (with an additional roll-away bed); to $140/night for a single person in a 1 bedroom cottage. Ms. Lohr can facilitate shared accommodations for interested registrants (final price will be determined by the number of people sharing an apartment).
Meals
Morning and afternoon coffee/snacks will be provided by TWS Hawai‘i Chapter; all other meals will be the responsibility of participants. Several local options are available: The Crater Rim Café, 10-Pin Grill, Java Café, and Lava Lounge are all located within the Kilauea Military Camp, the town of Volcano (approximately 3 miles from KMC) has a few cafes/restaurants, plus two small grocery stores.
